Projects throughout 2016

Reach Inclusive Arts has enjoyed a very productive 2016 which included:

  • Making it Art 2016 took place at The Wyvern Theatre in March and included students from Commonweal, Uplands, Crowdys Hill and Ridgway Schools in Swindon.  They all performed pieces demonstrating hopes and dreams for life after full-time education.  This project is funded by BBC Children in Need and Pudsey Bear welcomed the performers to the stage.  Friends and family all enjoyed the afternoon performance watching the young people perform with such energy
  • Street Arts is a project that works with young people from Marlborough House, NHS service that provides physical and mental healthcare for children and young people. This year they performed a Street Theatre piece in April, friends and family really enjoyed the sensitive piece of theatre the young people had devised
  • Crafty Friends art group – Tuesday morning sessions at the Wyvern Theatre – on-going.  This group continues to thrive and to provide opportunities for older people, living in Swindon, to socialise, enjoy the arts and gain the support of other members
  • Partners Theatre Company working with Big State Theatre Company, toured schools and public venues with their highly acclaimed drama called ‘Trip Wire’ during autumn 2016. This work was funded by Arts Council England and the feed back received from our independent evaluator led to the decision to tour the same show, with a few updates,  in 2017
  • The year ended with our AGM and Christmas Sharing at the Wyvern Theatre in December 2016. Councillor Eric Shaw, Swindon’ s Mayor welcomed everyone to a fun packed event with presentations, exhibitions and Partners Theatre Company’s version of the pantomime ‘Cinderella’.
